Choosing the Best Golf Equipment for your Game
In this section, you’ll find guides and tips to help you determine the best golf equipment for your game.
I’m a firm believer that no piece of technology in a golfer’s bag can compensate for poor technique. If you want to make the biggest improvement jump, a series of 1-on-1 lessons with a teaching Pro and tokens for the practice range is the best money you can spend.
Having said that, I also believe that the right equipment choices can help to lower your scores, improve your consistency and make the game more enjoyable (more on: types of golf clubs).
Side note Let’s face it… You’re going to spend money on new clubs and equipment at some point anyway, so it makes sense to understand what will have the greatest, positive impact on your game. You won’t find reviews of specific clubs (brand and model) in the guides and tips below. There’s very little value in me reviewing and summarizing a “Titelist D3 driver” for example, because ultimately it’s down to your personal preference.
What is of value is understanding a bit more about driver loft, shaft flex and shaft weight for example, and how they affect the flight of the ball (more on: golf club parts). Then you can make your own informed decision about what brand and specs are best for you.
What About Golf Training Aids?
I do use a select group of training aids in my day-to-day instruction and I think there are a number of items on the market that can help golfers fix a specific fault or generally speed up the learning/improvement curve.
Golf Equipment Tips
Ever been confused about what combination of clubs to carry?
In this lesson I show you what’s in my bag and what I recommend for most club-level golfers.
You wouldn’t buy a new suit that didn’t fit and nor should you buy a new set of clubs that haven’t been customized to your body type and swing.
This laymans guide gives you the low-down on club fitting so you can buy with confidence.
